Hello there. I have recently passed my PGCE with Bath Spa University this year (a body rated as outstanding by OfSTED) and gained qualified teacher status and am looking for further oppurtunities to teach.
I am also a keen fan of health and fitness and am certified as a Level 3 Advanced Personal Trainer and a Black Belt in Taekwondo equivalent to instructor status. This means a lot of experience in fitness, excercise, PE and more.
Whilst I enjoy teaching to full classrooms I find that the greatest difference can be made teaching 1 to 1. In this sort of setting you can make a real difference to a single person and really focus on what they need in order to succeed.
Whether you are looking for a tutor for young persons taking their first exams, or are older and simply want to learn more about a subject I am ready to help.
Availability: Available Saturdays all day, and various times on weekdays as requested.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
During my PGCE and through later work as a teacher in a number of secondary schools I have gained excellent experience teaching Science at all levels. My Students have included KS3, GCSE, BTec, OCR nationals and A-Level candidates from many backgrounds and ability levels.
This included teaching many students as they prepared to take their GCSE and A-Level exams. I taught a wide variety of subject material from A-Level chemistry to GCSE Physics or GCSE Biology (Health and Fitness). Our students followed the OCR exam board however I feel comfortable with all syllabuses.
In addition I currently work as an associate lecturer at Coventry University college teaching Life Sciences in preperation for undergraduate studies. During my time teaching during this last year I also helped to organise and participate in numerous small group revision sessions. These were often held outside of normal school hours and were a great oppurtunity. This included teaching students for whom english was a second language.
During this time I focused on helping them understand the language of science, a skill transferred to english pupils as well. In addition I served as President of the UEA Taekwondo Club for 2 years.
As a part of this, and as part of my Black Belt Training, I was often responsible for taking classes. To gain Black Belt status with this club (and with it Instructor Status) it was required to have a thorough understanding of the principles of fitness, health, training and body mechanics.
It was also a great chance to teach various life skills such as confidence, decision making, quick thinking, dedication and perseverance to people from all walks of life.
