As an experienced fully-qualified teacher, visual arts educator and practitioner I would relish the opportunity to provide inspiring practical and theoretical support for all levels of Art and English to children and adults of all ages and abilities.
The strong rapport and infectious enthusiasm quickly established with my students ensures we can make rapid progress towards achieving their full-potential with sessions adapted to accommodate individual needs.
My sound understanding of the National Curriculum requirements from KS3 through to KS5 enables me to guide, challenge and extend my students to be confident and successful in achieving top grades in formal examinations, including 11+ entrance examinations, GCSE and A-Level. I am also experienced in preparing students for Further and Higher level art courses including portfolio preparation, degree applications, written and oral assignments to a high level.
I also offer sustained guidance throughout BA and MA courses in all aspects of theory and practice. This includes a rigorous knowledge of Art History and contemporary critical theory, with a broad background of experience in drafting, composing, writing and editing statements, essays and final dissertations from the initial brainstorming and preparatory stages through to completion, with high standards and a meticulous eye for detail.
This is substantiated in my educational background which includes an MA Distinction (First Class Honours) in Art and Media Practice and BA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths with Foundation studies at St. Martins. In addition to this, I have a PGCE in Secondary Art from the Institute of Education (UCL) with full QTS. Possessing considerable teaching experience within formal and informal environments both within the UK and abroad, including Spain, Thailand and Korea, ensures an empathy of diverse cultural backgrounds and nationalities and an understanding of the challenges of teaching English as a foreign language.
Although my real passion is figurative painting in oils, I also have a broad knowledge of other art disciplines which extends to an interest in fashion illustration, design and sculpture with experience in resin casting, printmaking and site-specific installations incorporating video and sound, in addition to curating solo and group exhibitions.
I am a patient, reliable and responsible tutor who ensures lessons are engaging and beneficial, so please contact me to arrange an initial session to discuss your specific requirements, see how you feel, and take it from there.
