I am an enthusiastic, dedicated and professional Teacher and Tutor who has enabled a significant number of pupils to achieve their maximum potential and good grades at school. Since qualifying as a Primary School Teacher in 1987, I have taught individual students of all ages and abilities in literacy and numeracy skills, from Primary level to GCSE Level English and Mathematics, as well as entrance test preparation skills. I have also taught English as a second language and successfully prepared adults for Literacy and Numeracy Tests in order to achieve promotions in various occupations, including the Armed Forces, Humberside Police, Nursing, etc.
I would describe myself as having a calm, patient and encouraging approach. I believe it is important to provide a stimulating but relaxed and fairly informal learning environment where students can develop at their own pace. After an initial assessment, a suitable learning programme is designed to help build pupils' confidence in their own abilities and to reach their maximum potential.
My aim is to make learning fun as well as challenging so that tutees feel fully involved and enjoy the learning experience as they reach their targets. Here are a few comments that have been made by some of my students: After a short period of intensive GCSE Maths revision, Mr Brown commented, "Great tuition, made a big difference to my son's exam results."
Mr Jones, an adult learner, recently commented that, following a course of tuition in Literacy skills, he "now feels more confident in writing, spelling and grammar" and that "communication via email and telephone was excellent". Mrs Smith claimed that her 7 year old son, Josh, "has gained in confidence and ability since receiving tuition. He has enjoyed his sessions and has felt more able to tackle challenging work."
