I studied biochemistry at Warwick University, England, graduating in 2001. I gained extensive cell technology experience in market leading companies. I currently consult as an Outreach Scientist (e.g., the Crick Institute and UCL) which involves many things including scientific seminars on topics such as basic cell culture technique & best practice to advanced technologies available to help improve the translation of in vitro cell data to successful clinical outcomes.
My experience includes 7 years pharmaceutical R&D in biological drugs. Also, I have eight years commercial experience which has taught me that even fully qualified scientists require easy to follow training, seminars, troubleshooting, etc. I have had to become an excellent educator that has an impact. I consider myself an excellent public speaker: from very small to large audiences of >100.
I speak at the Society of Biology where I have to explain the topic avoiding heavy technical detail and keeping everyone on board.
I am a student & teacher of Aikido, the most beneficial purpose of which is to teach empathy and foritude in daily life. It also teaches an approach which negates conflict. This is invaluable in one's own well-being. I love languages: as well as my native English I can speak French & Spanish. I also have Latin to A-level standard.
