I am a fully qualified musician with many years' experience of performing and working with people. I worked for the London Philharmonic Orchestra for several years after graduating, in an administrative role, which gave me a deeper understanding of the professional world of music as well as giving me the opportunity to attend numerous concerts which opened my eyes and ears to different musical interpretations and ways of creating the best performance possible.
I have since gone on to do more private piano and violin teaching and discovered a different side of the music world which I really love - I love helping my pupils to discover music and to see the joy which it brings them as they learn more each week.

I have been teaching part time in and around my studies/jobs with various pupils for the last 10 years, and have recently started to develop a more solid and regular pupil base in Leighton Buzzard with pupils coming for lessons on a regular weekly basis. I have now given up my job in London to teach full time and am really enjoying doing what I love and watching my pupils grow and develop already.
My Masters degree in Community Music gave me invaluable experience of working with people from a wide range of backgrounds, as I devised workshops and went into schools to help children with musical engagement. I was the postgraduate representative for the Music Education Group whilst studying at University and enjoyed teaching young people about music during various events throughout my time there.

I had the privilege of teaching Julia at school, and have been impressed with her career to date.
She is an exceptionally sensitive, thoughtful and caring individual, who is very hard working, highly organised, and thoroughly reliable.
In her school years, Julia had an excellent rapport with her peers, and was highly respected by all members of the teaching staff. During 'free' periods in Senior school, she chose to assist junior students in lessons in the Music Department, where she helped both the more, and less able youngsters, who she quickly put at ease. It was a pleasure to watch Julia's patience and quiet sense of humour help pupils to gain so much confidence.
She is a highly accomplished performer in both piano and violin.
I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending her as a teacher, to students of all ages.

Julia is a delightful young woman who has enjoyed a great deal of academic success at School, University and later in employment with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. She is an extremely positive and optimistic young woman with great enthusiasm and outstanding interpersonal skills. I have known Julia for many years in my role as Music teacher at North Berwick High School where Julia excelled as a talented musician and a member of numerous music ensembles. Her accompaniment skills were much in demand and she confidently led rehearsals, helped younger pupils through in-class support and with her strong sense of responsibility, was utterly reliable in all situations during her school career. As deputy head girl, she represented the school on many occasions and was a real inspiration to younger pupils. During her time at University, Julia returned and undertook several weeks work experience teaching individuals and groups and generally helping in the Music department where she fitted in so well, With her lively personality, enthusiasm and encouragement our pupils loved Julia and both students and staff were sorry to see her leave.
There is no doubt that Julia is a born teacher. She has the patience and understanding combined with superb musicianship and wonderful enthusiasm to inspire both the insecure beginner and the high achieving, experienced musician. In 28 years of teaching, I have seldom met such a combination of talent and interpersonal skills and I believe Julia would be an asset to any music department, I cannot recommend her highly enough.
