In regards to my qualifications I hold an honours degree in chemical engineering and Masters of Science in renewable energy from the strathclyde University and UWS respectively. I have published three peer-reviewed papers in the field of chemistry and renewable energy, from Universities in Scotland, Sweden and Qatar. My tutoring approach is to allow students the opportunity to develop confidence in their own ability by developing their study skills.
My tutoring sessions focus on encouraging the student to ask questions, an opportunity not always available in the classroom. A well-balanced exchange involves both, student and tutor in the session. I believe in building good rapport with the student as it makes them more comfortable during sessions, meaning they will be more likely to ask questions and speak up if they’re not following anything. An initial meeting establishes the student’s needs and the direction tuition should take.
Then we begin work on a programme of study which focuses on filling gaps in knowledge and addressing any areas of weakness. I can provide assignments and feedback sessions for the student, depending on how much time they have or wish to dedicate. I also work on exam techniques which I believe are very important for developing students.
