I am a young, but enthusiastic English tutor, hoping to become a full time teacher of English at Primary to Secondary school level once I have finished my qualifications. I currently hold a Certificate of Higher Education with Goldsmiths, University of London International Programmes (High 2:1), and am pursuing my English degree with the University of Bristol at present. I am a stickler for grammar, have always loved fixing essays (my father is a professor of English Literature at university, and when I was growing up, one of my favourite activities would be correcting his papers).
I am experienced in helping people write personal statements, correcting essays, giving advice on creative or academic (critical analysis) pieces.
Modules from my certificate of HE include: - Introduction to English Language (Linguistics) : Grade - First. - Renaissance Comedy: Jonson and Shakespeare. Grade 2:1 - Approaches to Text (Literary Theory). Grade: High 2.1 Explorations in Literature (Chaucer to Dickens). Grade: 2.1 My main passion is teaching empathy and intensity of literature, and the impact written word has in successful, persuasive communication.
Availability: Available after 5 PM on all days of the week, or at any discussed hour on Wednesdays.
Willing to travel: 3 miles
Tutoring Experience:
I specialize in tutoring ESL and non native English students in particular, or those hoping to improve their writing skills, as I speak many languages myself (Including Thai, German, rudimentary French and Latin) I'm rather new to the professional working circles, but I have tutored struggling friends after school and have been part of a senior-buddy tutoring system in my 6th form. I am hoping to gain some references from working henceforth.
