I graduated from the University of Kent with a BA in History (First Class) and an MA in Modern History (Distinction) in 2011. With a passion for history and research, I undertook a PhD in History between 2011 to 2014, gaining my doctorate in May 2015. During this period, I have published in world-leading academic journals and have won funding and prizes for my research.
While I specialise in British imperial and global history, I am also a generalist and have interests across the field of early modern and modern history. Alongside teaching at the University of Kent between 2012 to 2014 as an Assistant Lecturer in History, I am now Head of History at a large Further Education institution in Sussex. Having been in this post since 2014, I am responsible for overseeing the provision of history teaching across the College to over 200 students. I also teach full-time at the College, delivering units from Edexcel which include both the old A2 units and, from 2015 onwards, the new History A Level papers.
I am a very informal, relaxed and flexible tutor, who's happy to work around the tutee's schedule and to adapt my teaching to their specific set of circumstances - whether they are seeking to build up assessment skills, focus on content and knowledge, or to seek additional learning support.
As a tutor, I strive to create a friendly and pro-active, enjoyable learning environment, no matter how brief, in which a tutee can feel relaxed and open to new ideas and information.
