My Testimonials

Re my 6 year old My little daughter suffered from English/Afrikaans language confusion. She has had intensive and expensive ongoing private classes at a language center, but to no avail. She would not/could not speak Afrikaans. She had to attend an Afrikaans class when she had to start school the next year and it was very traumatic for our extended family. She also suffered social anxiety as friends said they could not understand her Afrikaans. Nothing short of a miracle, Nell had her for two lessons and my daughter was literally cured. She did one or two techniques, worked for an hour with my child and gave us as parents homework (and checked that we did it, by phoning every second day). We cried when we saw the overnight transformation in our little girl... the confidence, and fluency. It seems all the language skills, bar one or two, were already there... and only Nell (and her Afrikaans Minion assistant and a pair of tiny pink stilettos) had the key. The second lesson was not even necessary. We joked afterwards that this tutor does herself no favors, by being this efficient. Afrikaans was always the monster in the room when it was time for the teacher/parent visits. So it was my first question at the next session at her new school... and the teacher did not understand why I thought this was an issue! We are forever in her debt.

From: John Piggott Sent: Tuesday, October 11, 2016 2:44 AM To: School of Languages Subject: ICO Nel Peter; I would like to thank Nel for helping me to pass my test. Prior to meeting her, my Afrikaans level was rough and I spoke staccato with broken pronunciation. Over the two weeks with her, my fluency improved and my vocabulary grew. She has the patience of Job and has a bubbly personality. She quickly can identify areas of weakness and focus and adapt efforts to smooth it out. She uses books, internet resources, examples and real-world experiences. She has helped me with my confidence and personal growth. I have had four Afrikaans teachers but she has been the only one to push me, support, me, and to allow exponential growth. She is a tremendous force for good. She has my highest recommendation for any future teaching post. v/r John Piggott
