My name is Joana Massana and I'm Portuguese but I've been living in the UK for almost 2 years. I have a Professional Initial Teacher Training Certificate that allows me to teach in Portugal. I believe that my passion for people and my knowledge would help me to be a good tutor, taking into consideration that every student is different and has different capacities, goals and passions for what they are doing/learning. I love study and learn things! I love write and draw, listening to music, sing, dance, go to the beach and be with friends and family. In 2012 I published my first book in Portugal "Confissões de uma Adolescente" (Confessions of an adolescent) and I'm writing others.

In 2015, while in University, I worked as volunteer in an Association providing support for children and young adults with learning disabilities and autism. There, I did different activities, including helping them to do their homework and to prepare for tests and exams. And before that, I had given private lessons for children and teenagers in different subjects. I think this experience allowed me to develop skills needed to support people and made me see the world differently in regards to how to look at people, make myself more caring, empathetic and thoughtful, I understood how important it is to put their needs first, assist them in benefiting from education and enable them to develop their skills. For me, the best way to learn is "playing", I mean, in a relaxed way, playing some games, doing some exercises, activities, projects, listening and translating music, without any pressure. I will have some materials ready for each lesson - different things and nothing heavy. Lessons need to be enjoyable if students are to learn quickly. I promise good results! No matter how old you are, my lessons will always be interesting, funny, simple, light, productive and efficient - I'll aim for perfection!
