Hello! My name is Alison and I am 23 years old. I have recently graduated from the University of Strathclyde obtaining a Masters degree in Pure and Applied Chemistry. I am currently working towards obtaining a PhD in microbiology at the University of Glasgow. I can confidently teach Chemistry to Higher level and achieved an A in this higher myself.
I am an outgoing and approachable person, I have previously worked as an adult volunteer with the ACF teaching young people valuable skills such as first aid. As a student I understood the need for continuous learning (unfortunately I had to study quite hard in order to achieve the high grades) therefore I am aware of the pressures placed upon students to succeed and would like to aid in any way I can with this process.
I aim to be as flexible as possible and to adapt my teaching techniques to the needs of the students I will be working with, personally I am a visual learner however I understand not all student are the same! I would like to help you be as enthusiastic about science as I am and I will strive to make sure my lessons are as enjoyable as possible whilst still helping you grasp the fundamentals and ‘tough stuff’ that is required for your exam! My lessons will mostly be guided by YOU, so that I can get a feel for the area in which you struggle most!
