"An experienced online tutor who puts students' individual needs at the heart of his teaching." I love teaching and having an opportunity to convey my enthusiasm for the English Language to others, irrespective of whether they have much education or very little. I believe we are all learning throughout our lives and knowledge should be accessible for all. My lessons have clear aims and structure, and will deliver on quality and usefulness.
I think that if, you as a student, can see purpose and a way of utilising the skills taught, then your motivation remains high. Reading, speaking, listening, conversation and writing are all used, but in my opinion, one to one classes allows for conversation, which is pivotal to honing the other skills. Learning is fun and worthwhile.

To Whom it May Concern,
I was working with Colin McAlister at Angloville’s English language immersion programme between May 10-15, 2015 in Füle, Hungary. Colin was one of eight volunteer native mentors, providing conversational language practice and voluntary teaching to Hungarian participants with varying levels of English. As programme coordinator, I had the opportunity to observe Colin during hour-long 1-on-1 sessions with our participants and during social activities and free time.
Colin was a great asset to our programme thanks to his patient and diligent explanation of English vocabulary, grammar and idioms and his ability to find the right voice with all of our participants as a partner in conversations. He helped one of our participants – his mentee – to prepare and deliver a 15 minute English language presentation by the end of the week. Colin could easily put people at ease, his friendly personality ensured that he could effectively work with all our participants. Despite the very intensive daily schedule – over 6 hours of 1-on-1 sessions and another 6 hours of casual conversation during meals, social time – Colin never showed the signs of stress and was always ready to jump into his next session full of energy.
Based on my experience with Colin at Angloville, I can wholeheartedly recommend him for a language teaching or tutoring position and I am confident he will take many students to the next level of their language skills.
Should you require more information about Colin, please do not hesitate to contact me via email or phone.
