My Testimonials
Name of the person who provided this testimonial: Fiona
Emma has worked with the Dart Totnes Amateur Rowing Club as Assistant Coach for 5 years. During that time she has been an important influence on a wide range of our rowers, from Beginners to Advanced, from Juniors aged 11 to Seniors in their 30s. She was a key individual in our coaching team for a highly successful Project Oarsome group, where we introduced around 15 teenagers from a local secondary school to rowing, teaching them over 6 weeks; this after-school activity demands energy and encouragement as well as authority and knowledge from the coaches.
I have witnessed Emma working with rowers to find a way to connect with them such that they clearly understand what she is teaching. She is highly flexible and can adapt her teaching to fit with different learning styles, be they visual, verbal or action-orientated. I know that she has studied the International Baccalaureate and as such has experienced different teaching methods; she is therefore able to draw on a wide range of learning skills.
Emma is very patient but demands (and wins) engagement and focus from her pupils; she describes finding out what will “click” with them as solving a puzzle and is genuinely motivated by achieving that.
She is committed, resourceful, cheerful and reliable; I would wholeheartedly recommend her in a teaching role.
