About James

I graduated with a first-class degree in English Literature from University College London, and won a UCL prize for my exam results. I have also studied Mandarin Chinese at both Beijing Foreign Studies University and Peking University.

I can help most GCSE Students of whatever calibre achieve an A or A* at GCSE level English and History, and have helped numerous students studying these subjects for A-Level produce the same grades, or jump several grade boundaries.

As a result, my tutees can expect to come away from my lessons with significantly widened options for university choices.

Availability: Monday - Sunday. Most time free on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Tutoring Experience:

Extensive experience in tutoring a range of ages, from 11 to 45. Every student I have taught has significantly improved their grade, in some cases moving from an extremely low base to an A* or A grade.

I am additionally able to offer enhanced advice about exam preparation in several subjects, and in significantly strengthening a Personal Statement.

This partly derives from my own A-Level experience: English Literature: A* (100% across every exam sat in two years - did not drop a mark) Economics: A (99% average AS grade) History: A* (100% in final examination) General Studies: A*

  • University College London (University of London) (2015)- English BA Single Honours from the University College London (University of London). (Grade: 1st)
