About John

I am an experienced art and design teacher with a good range of traditional art and design skills in teaching 2D fine art, ceramics 3d, sculpture, History of art/contextual studies. As well as extensive experience of teaching new media including digital arts animation graphics and web design. I have worked as a course leader in FE running Foundation and diploma courses and have designed, delivered and assessed curriculum at levels 1, 2, 3 and 4. I have a broad range of experience of working with students from a diversity of social settings in diverse environments. I have a BA Hons from Manchester Metropolitan university department of fine art and have a PGCE from the University of Bolton. As well as mainstream teaching I have worked with students with leaning disabilities and have many years experiences of working with people suffering mental health problems. I am a practising artist with my own studio working in mixed media and sculpture. I have a great believer in the positive benefits of creativity and am motivated by the rewards of assisting others in realising there own creative aspirations and the development of their skills and abilities.
